UTV Winter Riding Tips
When the weather gets colder and the snow is flying, it doesn't mean that you should hang up your UTV keys for the season. With a little preparation and the right gear, you can keep on riding all winter long. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your winter UTV rides.
Get a Winch
If you're going to be doing any off-roading in the winter, a winch is an absolute must. There's nothing worse than getting stuck in the snow and not having the means to get yourself out. A winch will help you unstuck your side-by-side and get back on the trails in no time.
Get Some Tire Chains
Tire chains are another must-have for any off-roading adventures you plan on taking this winter. They'll help you get traction in even the iciest of conditions. Just make sure you know how to put them on before you head out!
Dress for Success
When it comes to dressing for a winter UTV ride, layering is key. You want to be sure to stay warm, but you also don't want to overheat while you're riding. Wear layers that you can easily take on and off as needed and remember to pack extra clothes just in case you need them.
Protect Your Hands
Your hands are going to be exposed to the elements while you're driving, so it's important to protect them from the cold. Wear gloves that will keep your hands warm and dry, but won't interfere with your ability to drive the UTV.
Plan Your Route
Before heading out on a UTV winter ride, it’s a good idea to map out your route ahead of time. This is especially important if you're unfamiliar with the area or if conditions are particularly hazardous. Knowing where you're going before you set out will help you stay safe and avoid getting lost.
