A Beginner’s Guide to Loader Winterization

During the winter months, there’s will a long period of time when you won’t be using your loader. But you shouldn't simply park it and leave it in storage. Proper cleaning and maintenance for winter storage will extend the life of your loader and help it run smoothly come spring. We've created the following beginner's guide to preparing your loader for winter storage.

Inspect Your Loader

Here you are looking for any potential issues that might have cropped up over the last few months. Look over your loader for any wear and tear that could need repairs. It's much better to bring issues to our service department now than wait until spring when you need to use the equipment. Take advantage of the off-season to get any parts repaired and replaced so your combine will be ready to go when the season starts again.

Maintain the Fluids

If your loader will be sitting unused for a period of time, any fluids you leave will also be sitting for an extended period of time. Check your owner's manual to see if you need to change the engine oil as part of a routine maintenance check. You should also add a stabilizer to the fuel tank. If you don't, the water could separate out and can lead to rust through the tank or enter the engine where it can cause plenty of problems.
